blogs update....

I contacted savvyplanners.com and they updated their site. You can see the whole page on an earlier post.  Thanks for the kind words!

These photos were tweeted by Publisher|Editor in Chief of Southern Weddings Magazine, wedding business consultant, Lara Casey via www.twitpic.com.

UPDATE: We’ve recently learned that the floral artistry in these photos is the work of, none other than, Kebbie Hollingsworth, AIFD of Kebbie Hollingsworth Floral Design!

But then, as they say, a picture paints a thousand words.

You're investing a good deal of money on your tablescapes! Why not go all the way and make those details come to life?! It's not that much more expensive, on balance.

And another:

Notice how there is a vibrancy and shimmer that makes the tablescape full lof interest! You'll allow us to create a scintillating environment which impacts, entices and stimulates your guests' senses! When you join us as a client, we'll show you how.

You'll allow us to create a scintillating environment which impacts, entices and stimulates your guests' senses! Notice, too, how each petal of the artfully designed centerpiece is allowed to 'breathe' and shine on its own! Now imagine the piece with just the ambient light in a dimmed banquet room. It would still be gorgeous but it simply wouldn't have that extra zing of elegance and panache. When you join us as a client, we'll show you how.

Vendor relationships....

I had the great pleasure of speaking with Ross Knight in Atlanta, GA of Ross Oscar Knight Photography today. We recently worked on a wedding together. Can't wait to see the pictures.  I'll be sure and post them later.  Our conversation got me thinking about vendor relationships.

Unless you've been behind the scenes of an event as it all comes together you can't imagine the logistics involved. Depending on the venue and time frame allowed for set up, things can get pretty intense.

For example, there is usually only one door for all of the vendors involved to get in and out of, the florist can't set up until the tables are set up and linens on, the lighting team can't adjust lighting until the florist gets everything in place, the baker sometimes can't set up until the cake tables are set in place, the photographer can't get started with pictures until the florist has pinned on corsages and bouts, passed out bouquets and is finished with décor and the list goes on….

For a truly successful event we must all work together and be considerate of the other vendors involved. Good communication and collaboration is essential. I have worked with some brilliant professionals this year and hope to work with many more.

Of course, we all have our favorite people to work with. When I have a great working relationship with another vendor it is a thing of beauty and makes my life a whole lot easier. It also makes that perfect event that you’re looking for a lot more likely to happen.

So when you’re choosing vendors for your next event be sure to ask them how their relationships are with the other vendors you are considering.

What’s with the Pin Spots People!?

There are many times when we share decor concepts with clients and that’s the question we hear… until we explain it properly.

But then, as they say, a picture paints a thousand words.

Poonam and Chirag May 2009

I had so much fun working on this wedding. There are so many details that I’m going to have to break it up into at least two posts. It was a Hindu Vedic ceremony. I have such as great respect and fascination for the rich traditions (dating back at least 6000 years) involved in this 3 day celebration.

Saturday morning started with the ceremony, then lunch, a cocktail hour later in the day, then the reception. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. The reception went over time. Gotta love a party that no one wants to leave!

There were several vendors involved and I really enjoyed working with all of them. The ceremony and reception was held at the Emerald Coast Convention Center. Bliss Event Group handled the planning; Occasions by Shangri La did a great job with the set up of the mandap canopies, etc… (not to mention that they were such a fun group), Our Labor of Love has a blog post on the beginning of the celebration; the lighting was handled by Nick Bodkins and I don’t want to forget a to thank Bhojanic Caterers for feeding the crew. Everything was fabulous!

I have a few pictures that I took while running through. I’ll let you know when I get the professional shots.
