Deanna and Allen - May 2009
A beautiful day in May, friends and family all around, sand, surf and a slight breeze, fabulous flowers, great food, music and dancing, surprising details and a couple in love. Now that’s a perfect day!
This was a very enjoyable wedding for me. I had a great team; I got to work with the fabulous Bliss girls and a great wait staff at the Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front. The bride wanted a modern, clean aesthetic that worked with the romantic beach setting. Using a classic white palate as a base and punches of color with water elements made this a festive celebration. The majority of the flowers used were phalaenopsis orchids, but also included were fragrant hyacinths, hydrangea and mini calla lilies all in white with punches of color in the dendrobium and cymbidium orchids. Lots of crystal details and little “surprises” everywhere you looked.
I can’t say it enough…. It’s all in the details! The little surprises that make your look complete and make your guests know that you had them in mind while planning your wedding and reception. The team of women at Bliss Event Group took care to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable, from the parasols to shade them from the sun during the ceremony to the personalized sand dollars at each place setting.
The lighting was fantastic, I’m sure the cake (although I didn’t get to taste this one) made by Betty Weber was superb, and the band was great (they were still dancing at tear down time). I can’t wait to see the professional pictures by Meg and Charles Baisden. I’ll let you know when they’re out.
Here are a few of the pictures that I snapped:

The sweetheart table was covered with white flower petals as well as phalaenopsis orchids. Check out the other details.... candlelight, treasure chests, crystals and shells.
May continues....
Just a sneak peek...

The month of May...
I just wanted to slip in a few pictures of the May weddings I’ve done so far. All very different, just like the brides. Here is just a sample of what I’ve been doing. I’ll be back soon to explain and enhance
Remember these are photos that I took. I hope to get the professionals real soon.

In my position as a wedding florist I deal mostly with the bride and her family. I had the great pleasure to work with one of my favorite brides on my wedding this past weekend. Mary Carolyn and I planned for several months to make the wedding and reception a reflection of her personal style. Daniel, being the perfect gentleman, acquiesced to his bride’s wishes for a magical celebration in her favorite color, pink.
It is so important for a bride to do her research and narrow down the options because the possibilities are endless. Pictures from magazines are a great start. Hold on to the pictures that catch your eye for one reason or another. It could be a particular flower, a certain feel to the room, a color combination, etc… Communication is the key to getting the look you want. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Brides are not supposed to everything about flowers and the possibilities, your professional florist is.
I received a really wonderful compliment today. A friend of the bride’s that attended the wedding said that “it looked just like her”. Always my ultimate goal!
Some of the key elements were fragrant pink flowers including peonies, hyacinth, garden roses and tulips. Mercury glass, feathers and crystals. As you can tell from some of the pictures there was a brisk breeze just adding to the movement of the elements.
Here a just a few of the preliminary pictures from David Ellison Photo of Grand Rapids, MI. I’ll share more as I get them.
